Latest range of connectors targets electric and hybrid vehicles

Lane Electronics now supplies Souriau's high-power 38999 Series III circular connectors which are particularly suitable for electric vehicle and hybrid automotive applications. The shielded, threaded coupling connectors feature single power contacts that can handle up to 850A and are designed to withstand the harsh environments found in automotive applications. Key features include high contact endurance, low contact resistance and no micro disconnect under vibration. When mated, the connectors meet IP67 which means protection against the ingress of all commonly used automotive fluids. Operating temperature range is -65C +175C. Three aluminium shell sizes are available: size 19 (up to 450A), size 23 (up to 650A) and size 25 (up to 850A) - all at 40C. Finish can be black zinc nickel or cadmium olive drab. It is possible to crimp various cables from 50 to 185mm². Ease of assembly and installation is made possible by a removable backshell / shrink boot combination while installer / user safety is assured thanks to a recessed engagement point that prevents arcing during mating / un-mating and a plastic capped pin contact which prevents electric shock, says the company.
