The international distributor of electronic and electrotechnical components – Transfer Multisort Elektronik – launched in 2021 a new logistics center in Rzgów near Łódź, with a total area of over 21,000 m². The facility represents a key stage in TME’s development and a symbolic step towards Industry 4.0 – part of the warehouse operations is carried out by robots that cooperate with the human team.
– This project is a groundbreaking investment in our history – says Andrzej Kuczyński from TME’s management board. The new center was designed to increase the scale of operations, but also to improve work comfort and process efficiency. Automation of the facility reaches 60%, and modern sorting, packing, and transport machines allow for even faster and more accurate order fulfilment.
The warehouse hall occupies more than 18,000 m², accompanied by administrative, social, and technical buildings with an additional area exceeding 3,500 m². The investment was carried out on a 15-hectare plot, and its value is estimated at 150 million PLN. TME employs nearly 500 people in Rzgów (over 1,500 total), but in the next development stages, the warehouse expansion is planned to reach 54,000 m², with employment growing to as many as 2,000 workers.
The logistics center is not only about automation. TME places strong emphasis on workplace ergonomics – the facility is equipped with top-notch air conditioning systems, solutions improving acoustics and thermal comfort, a canteen, a relaxation zone, and a gym. The internal standards are closer to those of a modern office building than a traditional warehouse.
The Rzgów center works hand in hand with the logistical heart of TME, creating an integrated order processing system with a global scope. In Łódź, central Poland, is located the original shipping and warehouse center with a total area of 19,500 m². The warehouse offers 135,000 shelf storage locations, 255,000 ASRS storage locations in the high-bay warehouse, and 16,500 pallet storage locations. Modern stacker cranes, 23 meters high, handle 251,000 containers with a throughput of 150 picks per hour for each crane.
Every day, more than 5,000 parcels leave TME’s warehouses, reaching customers in over 150 countries worldwide. This process is supported by advanced IT infrastructure – customers have access to up-to-date inventory levels, see product availability in real time, receive substitute product suggestions, and can benefit from individual discounts. EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) technology means not only time savings, but also greater control over the entire purchasing process. Thanks to the comprehensive system integration, it is possible to go through the entire order cycle – from a quotation request to invoice issuance – without the need for manual intervention. TME supports the most popular EDI communication standards and provides an individual approach regardless of the partner’s scale of operations. This solution has been proven to work well for both large manufacturing enterprises and smaller trading companies.
TME recognises the equal importance of all elements that make up the company - infrastructure, people, and technology - and continuously invests in the development of them all. It combines a global scale of operations with a personal partnership approach to every customer – regardless of whether it is a large manufacturer, a small integrator, a technical university, or a hobbyist technology enthusiast. Although TME’s warehouses operate based on modern technologies and robotics, its heart remains with the people. The company emphasises cooperation, mutual support, and a team-working culture – because behind every shipment stands the competence and commitment of the entire team.
TME is expanding not only in Poland. The company has 12 subsidiaries worldwide – including the United Kingdom, the United States, China, Germany, and Spain – and is soon opening a new office in India. Strategic presence in Asia will allow even better adaptation of the offer to local needs and a more nuanced understanding of the business environment.
TME’s portfolio includes more than 1,000,000 products – from resistors and microcontrollers to complete development kits and workshop equipment. All available online on the TME website - explore the current catalog here.
