Amphenol UPC – providing continuous power to 400 A

Designed for use in the HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) market, UPC (universal power connector) from Amphenol is a plastic connector series available in 2-pole and 3-pole variants offering continuous power with 200 A or 400 A.

As well as HEV use, Amphenol’s compact UPC connectors are ideal for use in starter generators, power convertors, battery management systems, 2- and 3- phase motors, and heavy equipment electrification.

The connectors incorporate patented RADSOK® technology, which the company claims will offer less resistance, higher amperage, lower T-rise and voltage drop. Additionally, its twisted grid configuration is said to allow up to 50% more current to pass through a pin of the same size, and, at the same time, increase reliability, lower mating forces, and increase cycle durability.

Lightweight and offering a small footprint, the compact plastic shell structure is field-installable and repairable, and provides continuous power up to 400 A.
