Small intelligent power devices suited to DC motor drive applications

Mouser now offers Toshiba's TPD4163K and TPD4164K 600V intelligent power devices for brushless DC motor drives. These feature-rich, space-saving devices are perfect for overcurrent, undervoltage, and thermal shutdown protection for air conditioners, air cleaners, pumps, and more.

The devices get a voltage upgrade from 500V to 600V, increasing reliability for grid/system power supply fluctuations. Both devices deliver high-voltage PWM control, level shift high-side and low-side drivers, IGBT outputs, FRDs and protective surge features, with output currents (DC) of 1A (TPD4163K) and 2A (TPD4164K), respectively.

The devices are designed for three-shunt resistor circuits and fabricated by a high-voltage SOI process, housed in a through-hole type HDIP30 package, which lessens the mounting area by approximately 21% against the company's previous models to help decrease the overall size of motor drive circuit boards.
