LEDs decrease blue light content for lower light pollution

15-01-2024 | Mouser Electronics | Industrial

Mouser now stocks LUXEON NightsScape Technology LEDs from Lumileds. Reducing blue light content to lower than 2%, these LEDs meet new lighting standards and help reduce harmful light pollution.

The LEDs lower the negative impact of night-time illumination on plants, wildlife and the human circadian rhythm. The reduced blue light content also decreases glare, improving visual acuity for motorists and pedestrians alike. With less than 2% blue light content between 400nm and 500nm, the LEDs support dark-sky initiatives and comply with new outdoor lighting standards.

The 3030 HE/HE Plus LEDs are ideal for panel lights, downlights, wall lights and horticulture, while the 5050 high-power LEDs can be employed in streetlights, flood lights, and wall packs, among others. Packages are industry-standard, making meeting new outdoor lighting standards possible without redesigning optics or fixtures. Functional colour rendering produces a warm, welcoming light ideal for outdoor illumination. These efficient LEDs provide around 185lm/W and have a lumen maintenance value similar to standard white LEDs.

The LEDs are ideal for outdoor lighting, including streetlights, floodlights, landscape lighting and downlights.
