Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. has released a new configurable power supply that delivers optimised, application-specific power conversion in a small form factor with up to four times higher power density than conventional solutions.

The first member of the company's next-generation NeoPower (NP) family of AC/DC configurable industrial and medical power supplies, the NP08, combines eight output power slots for rapid and flexible configuration with a best-in-class power density of 18 W/in3. Rated at up to 4,000W, the device also has integrated and flexible communication capabilities with optional dongles supporting all common digital communication protocols without needing design changes or modifications.

"With the widest power range in the industry, AE is the market leader in configurable power supplies," said María Cortez, Advanced Energy's senior vice president for Industrial Power Products. "The launch of the first member of the NeoPower family means that we now offer the largest portfolio of configurable solutions – all with AE's exceptional and trusted reliability. NeoPower leverages AE's expertise in high-efficiency server power supply design with our deep experience in configurable to speed development of high-density configurable power conversion systems that are precisely tailored to the needs of demanding applications. The new NP08 is a perfect first example and delivers more power in a 2.5" configurable supply than comparable solutions."

Designed for ease of configuration in series and parallel implementations, the device can be programmed as a voltage or a current source and operates with market-leading low-noise performance. It is qualified to all applicable standards, including the medical BF safety rating and the SEMI F47 standard relating to immunity from voltage sag.

AC inputs are 90VAC to 264VAC. The company's ConnectedPower portfolio of interface options allows the device to support RS-485 (MODBUS RTU), PMBUS, and CANBUS (CANOPEN) protocols. This comprehensive connectivity also makes it ideal for IoT applications needing cloud-based monitoring and control.
