Review Display Systems has released a fully integrated 4.1" TFT display module. The DWIN DMG72720T041-06WTC provides an IPS TFT display with a built-in dual-core microcontroller-based ASIC, a touch controller and a fully integrated InCell capacitive touch panel.

The new 4.1" smart module implements a UART-based serial communications display interface that allows a simple yet cost-effective method of system integration and supports the development of custom user applications without needing any extra embedded electronics to drive the display.

The display module features a square 4.1" IPS TFT LCD with a resolution of 720 x 720 pixels, which allows wide viewing angles of 85 degrees in all directions (left/right, up/down) and supports 8-bit RGB data facilitating a colour palette of up to 16.7 million colours. A white LED backlight provides a specified brightness rating of 400cd/m².

DWIN provide and support a free PC-hosted software development tool, DGUS (DWIN Graphic Utilised Software), that allows custom GUIs to be readily created and developed. A predefined application development environment supports various graphic functions and library elements. Also, user-defined images, icons, corporate branding and logos can be effortlessly uploaded to the development environment.

Justin Coleman, display business manager, RDS, said, "The smart DWIN 4.1" TFT display module has been designed and developed to enable users to quickly and easily design and develop their own custom, graphical user interfaces. The readily available PC-based development tool allows graphic designs and interfaces to be rapidly created, tested and refined."

The development and implementation of GUIs are aided by the InCell PCap touchscreen, which is fully integrated within the LCD cell. The display module has outline mechanical dimensions of 82.8mm (w) x 79.1mm (h) x 6mm (d) and an active display area of 73.98mm (w) x 73.98mm (h). An operating temperature range of -20C to +70C is supported.

The display module also features 16MB of onboard Flash memory, which enables graphics, icons, images, and text to be uploaded through the serial interface.

The module can be readily configured to support GUIs across various applications such as data entry, keypad access, remote control, security systems, smart home devices, equipment control and monitoring.
