Infineon Technologies AG has released the new PSoC 4100S Max family. It offers expanded Flash memory and GPIO for next-generation HMI applications to support the fifth-generation CAPSENSE touch sensors. Available in 7mm x 7mm, 10mm x 10mm, and 14mm x 14mm² packages, the technology is excellent for industrial control, automotive HMI, home automation and large home appliances including inductive sensors, robotics, washing machines, refrigerators, smart thermostats, air conditioners, and printers.

The family includes up to 384K Flash memory – the largest PSoC 4 Flash memory in its class – up to 84 GPIOs, CAN-FD, high-speed, long-range wired communication, and I²S master for fully embedded audio solutions. The new features also incorporate dual fifth-generation CAPSENSE blocks, which provide differentiated HMI and touch sensing solutions. The next-generation devices also comprises a cryptographic accelerator for fast and efficient cryptographic functions for a more secure interface for tomorrow’s touch user interface applications.

“Infineon is a leading provider of capacitive touch solutions. The PSoC 4100S Max with next-generation CAPSENSE is the best yet with both mutual and self-capacitance sensing for various touchscreen features,” said Steven Tateosian, vice president, IoT, Compute and Wireless Business Unit of Infineon. “This next-generation product provides the industry’s best touch sensing with scalability, while reducing the overall bill of materials for designers’ boards. Additionally, this family delivers industry-leading signal-to-noise ratio under some of the most severe touch sensing environments.”

Compatible with the company's latest ModusToolbox 3.0 development platform, the devices enable developers with a unique experience for various use cases including consumer IoT, industrial, automotive HMI, smart home, wearable and other applications. As well as PSoC 4, Infineon ModusToolbox 3.0 is also compatible for embedded applications using its products including PSoC 6, XMC, AIROC Wi-Fi, AIROC Bluetooth, and EZ-PD PMG1 MCUs.
