Widebody IGBT and MOSFET driver for motor control and inverter applications

The Vishay VOW3120, available now from TTI Europe, comprises an infrared LED optically coupled to an IC with a power output stage. This optocoupler is ideal for driving power IGBTs and MOSFETs employed in motor control and inverter applications.

The high operating voltage span of the output stage gives the drive voltages needed by gate-controlled devices. The voltage and current provided by this optocoupler make it excellent for directly driving IGBTs with ratings up to 1200V/100A. For IGBTs with higher ratings, the device can be employed to drive a discrete power stage which drives the IGBT gate.

The device offers higher isolation for applications operating at higher working voltages, and or higher pollution degree criteria. Higher VIORM, VIOTM, creepage and clearance distances, make the device excellent for many industrial control and power conversion applications including industrial welding equipment, motor drives, industrial inverters, commercial and residential solar inverters, wind generator inverters, and EV and plug-in HEV chargers.
