The FLIR Si124 Ultrasound imaging camera, available now from RS Components, can assist in locating pressurised leaks in compressed air systems or detect partial discharge from high-voltage electrical systems.

The device is an intelligent, simple-to-use imaging system. This lightweight, one-handed solution can help manufacturing, utility, and engineering professionals identify efficiency loss and potential failures up to ten times faster than traditional methods.

Constructed with 124 microphones and a frequency range covering audible and ultrasound (2kHz to 31kHz), the device sees through background noise generally seen in industrial environments to deliver precise acoustic imagery. The acoustic image is overlaid in real-time on top of a digital camera picture, which enables the user to precisely pinpoint the source of the sound and classify problems.

The device is equipped with the FLIR Acoustic Camera Viewer cloud service. This smart tool automatically stores images in the cloud after being captured. Users are then able to access stored files for deeper analysis.

Adopting the device as part of a regular maintenance routine, professionals can recognise issues quickly, helping utilities keep the power flowing and manufacturing operations going.
