Texas Instruments ADS7138 12-Bit ADC is an easy-to-use, eight-channel, multiplexed, 12-bit, successive approximation register SAR ADC. The eight channels are able to be configured independently as either analog inputs, digital inputs, or digital outputs. The device offers an internal oscillator for ADC conversion processes. The ADC communicates by an I2C-compatible interface and runs in either autonomous or single-shot conversion mode. The ADC implements an analog watchdog function by event-triggered interrupts per channel utilising a digital window comparator with programmable high and low thresholds, hysteresis, and an event counter. The ADC offers a built-in cyclic redundancy check for data read/write operations and the power-up configuration.

The device is supplied in a small package size of only 3mm x 3mm WQFN. The ADC has operating ranges of 2.35V to 5.5V AVDDm 1.65V to 5.5V DVD, over a temperature range of –40C to +125C.

Typical applications include automotive centre information displays, mobile robot CPU boards, rack servers, and intra-DC interconnect (metro).
