Texas Instruments UCC23513 Isolated Gate Driver is an Opto-compatible, single-channel, isolated gate driver for IGBTs, MOSFETs and SiC MOSFETs. This device is provided with 4.5A source, and 5.3A sink peak output current and 5.7KVRMS reinforced isolation rating. The high supply voltage range of 33V enables the use of bipolar supplies to effectively drive IGBTs and SiC power FETs. The device can drive both low side and high side power FETs. Principal features and characteristics deliver significant performance and reliability upgrades over standard optocoupler-based gate drivers while sustaining pin-to-pin compatibility in both schematic and layout design.

Performance highlights include high CMTI, low propagation delay, and small pulse width distortion. Tight process control returns small part-to-part skew. The input stage is an ediode which implies long term reliability and superior ageing characteristics in comparison to traditional LEDs. It is provided in a stretched SO6 package with >8.5mm creepage and clearance, and a mould compound from a material group I, which has a CTI >600V.

The device’s high performance and reliability make it an excellent choice for use in all types of motor drives, industrial power supplies, solar inverters, and appliances. The higher operating temperature provides opportunities for applications not previously able to be supported by traditional optocouplers.
