There is a new generation of intelligent input systems with capacitive touch technology available from Bürlkin. The configurable input system CDS1 from Schurter provides intuitive use with a finger swipe, wipe, rotate or tap via the touch screen corresponds to that of a smartphone and consequently satisfies the current consumer taste.

The user determines what is displayed or activated when wiping on the bright, round OLED display and the home LED; they have a broad creative range from hard picture changes to gentle fade-in and fade-out. All functions are easily configurable. The same free space can be utilised for the glass layout, as individual symbols may be displayed on the soft keys. The visual appearance can also be improved by a customer-specific aluminium decorative ring.

The configurable display input system has functions that are controlled via the customer's machine control system. The user input occurs via known finger movements, such as tapping, wiping or rotating. Also, individual functions can be allocated to each of the five soft keys. Each of the soft keys also provides the option of RGB colour backlighting with different lighting modes, including constant, flashing or pulsating.

No operating system software is needed for operation. With machine simulator software that needs Windows 7 or higher, you can speedily get an overview of the functions. This software can be employed to simulate machine control at the customer's site and to test the touch functions.
