Mouser is now stocking the MAX22195 octal industrial digital input device from Maxim Integrated. Created to lessen power, system cost, and size for PLC digital-input subsystems, the device is a highly integrated IEC 61131-2-compliant digital input device for process, industrial, and building automation applications. The device translates eight 24V industrial inputs to a serialised CMOS-compatible, parallel outputs with propagation delay of less than 300ns from input-to-output for all channels. The fault-tolerant, 5mm x 5mm device interfaces with 3V or 5.5V logic and includes a current-setting resistor, enabling engineers to configure the device for IEC 61131-2 Type 1, 2, or 3 inputs. The device incorporates an internal LDO regulator that gives power to digital isolators and other field-side circuits, as well as energy-less field-side LED drivers that satisfy the indicator light demand of IEC 61131-2 with no further power dissipation. The device also provides surge protection to ±1kV and ±8kV contact ESD and ±15kV air gap ESD protection to add to increased system robustness. The device is supported by the MAX22195EVKIT evaluation system, which offers terminal blocks for all eight inputs and a single header for all eight outputs for easy monitoring and evaluation. Eight field-side LEDs indicate input status, and a READY LED indicates that the device is operating normally.
