Cliff Electronics now provide dust covers to prevent the ingress of dust and dirt. These dust covers protect unmated fibre optic connectors and other control interfaces which need to remain uncontaminated when not in use or when in storage. Applications include outside broadcast and events, instrumentation, education, industrial and agriculture. Dust covers are currently available for six different connector types; USB2-A/USB3-A, USB2-B, USB3-B, USB-C, RJ45 and HDMI. The dust covers simply push into the front of the connector and are compatible with both plastic and metal FeedThrough connectors. A small hole is provided in the handle to allow covers to be tied together for storage or attached to the panel if required. Cliff dust covers are available in black as standard with custom colours are available on request subject to a minimum order quantity. John Hall, managing director of Cliff Electronics, comments: “Dust covers are a logical extension to our XLR format and FeedThrough connector range. When equipment is in storage or a connector is unused in an installation it is important to protect the contacts, whether metal or fibre-optic from contamination. Our new range of dust covers offers users a very low-cost way to protect equipment and ensure its availability and reliability.”
