The Texas Instruments TPS25221 is designed for applications where heavy capacitive loads and short circuits may be encountered. The programmable current-limit threshold maybe set between 275mA and 2.7A (typical) using an external resistor. ILIMIT accuracy as tight as ±6% can be achieved at the higher current-limit settings. Power-switch rise and fall times are controlled to minimise current surges during turn on and turn off.
When a load attempts to draw current exceeding the programmed ILIMIT the internal FET enters constant current mode in order to keep ILOAD at or below ILIMIT. The FAULT output will assert low during over-current conditions after the built in de-glitch time.
