CUI has introduced a new 3000W front-end AC/DC power supply for mission-critical (N+1) redundant applications. The PSE-3000-48 delivers a power density of 33.48W/cubic inch and achieves Platinum efficiency in a compact standard 1U package measuring just 40.64mm x 101.6mm x 355.6mm). The power supply is preset to output 48VDC with an adjustable output from 42V to 55V for wireless and broadcast applications. Hot swap blind-docking capability is implemented through the use of a single connector that integrates ac, dc and I/O signals. With a typical efficiency of 94% at 50% load, the power supply is also ideal for telecom, server and networking applications where reducing energy consumption is of critical concern. The PSE-3000-48 features system communications via I2C/PMBus protocol for control and monitoring of the unit. The main 48VDC output delivers up to 62.5A with droop current sharing for paralleling multiple units. Standby outputs of 3.3VDC or 5VDC at 2A are provided. For maximum flexibility, the series is available in front-to-back or back-to-front airflow configurations depending on the application’s cooling requirements. The PSE-3000-48 also offers 60950-1 safety approvals, bears the CE Mark, and complies with all applicable EMC requirements to accommodate world wide applications. Protections for over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, and input under-voltage are standard. An optional 1U 19-inch power shelf is available to hold up to four power supplies for 12 KW parallel operation, 9KW N+1 redundant operation, or dual 6KW 'A' & 'B' output channel operation. The dc output terminal blocks can be configured to be single or dual polarity. Engineering samples are available, says the company.
