Inertial modules for IIoT and IoT applications

Mouser now stocks the STMicroelectronics ISM330IS and ISN330ISN iNEMO inertial modules. The modules provide an integrated, SiP solution combining a three-axis digital accelerometer and a three-axis digital gyroscope. The inertial modules enable always-on, low-power features for optimal performance in IIoT and IoT applications, including industrial robots, asset tracking, condition monitoring, and complex motion detection.

The inertial modules offer an embedded intelligent sensor processing unit, an ultra-low-power programmable core able to execute signal processing and AI algorithms on the edge. The inertial modules provide a full-scale acceleration range of ±2g to ±16g and an angular rate range of ±125dps to ±2000dps. The modules’ ISPU uses data from the internal accelerometer/gyroscope and up to four external sensors utilising the device’s sensor hub functionality. The ISM330IS inertial module uses an extensive ecosystem of libraries, as well as third-party tools and an IDE. The ISM330ISN is paired with the NanoEdge.AI Studio, a developer tool from the company that permits users to create machine learning libraries.

The STEVAL-MKI233KA IS330IS evaluation kit supports the modules. The evaluation kit incorporates a target board with a pre-mounted IS330IS sensor and an adapter card that facilitates connection to the STEVAL-MKI109V3 MEMS development platform (not included). The development platform offers a high-performance 32-bit microcontroller that functions as a bridge between the sensor and a PC, on which it is possible to utilise a downloadable Unico-GUI or dedicated software routines for customised applications.
