DC blocking capacitors simplify part selection for designers

31-10-2022 | Vishay | Passives

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc has released a new series of surface-mount MLCC optimised for DC blocking applications. The industry's first such devices characterised for common frequency bands ranging from 3MHz to 18GHz, the Vishay Vitramon DC Blocking Capacitors make it simple for designers to select the correct component for their application.

Manufactured in reliable NME technology, the devices are ideal for RF, Bluetooth, 5G, and powerline communication circuits; defence radios; infotainment systems; fibre optic lines; microwave modules; amplifiers; and high-frequency data links. In these applications, the MLCCs block DC voltages – excluding the requirement for higher-cost broadband blocks – while efficiently transmitting the desired AC signal with lower than 0.5dB insertion loss over the selected frequency band.

The capacitors cover the HF, VHF, UHF, L, S, C, X, and Ku frequency bands and provide resonance-free performance over the bands' range. Supplied in the 0402, 0603, 0805, and 1210 case sizes, the devices function over a voltage range from 25V to 500V, and offer a temperature range from -55C to +125C. S-parameters for the MLCCs are offered for download.
