Bourns ZV and ZVHT SMD Low-Voltage Varistors are created to succeed larger surface mount TVS Zener Diodes in multiple applications. The devices are available now from Mouser. Two types are available, ZV (Low Voltage) and ZVHT (Low Voltage, High Temperature). The varistors shield sensitive electronic devices against high-voltage surges in the low-voltage region. The series provides superior transient energy absorption due to increased energy volume distribution and power dissipation. The components comprise a wide DC operating voltage range from 3V to 170V. The varistors also display independent suppression characteristics allowing stable protection over a broad temperature range of -55C to +125C (ZV) and -55C to +125C (ZVHT).

The device applications include suppression of inductive switching or other transient events such as surge voltage at the circuit board level. The products also offer ESD protection to IEC 1000-4-2, MIL-STD 883C Method 3015.7 and other industry specifications and on-board transient voltage protection of ICs and transistors.
