USB Type-C PD 3.0 controllers provide a fast time-to-market solution

Microchip UPD301A Stand-alone USB Type-C Power Delivery 3.0 Controllers, available now from Mouser, offer a stand-alone, fast time-to-market solution for consumer, industrial, and automotive applications. The controllers are created to adhere to the USB Type-C Cable and Connector Specification and USB Power Delivery 3.0 Specification. The device has stand-alone operation for source PD applications, facilitating cable plug orientation and detection for a USB Type-C receptacle. Additionally, this enables the device to implement baseband communication with a partner USB Type-C device through the integrated USB Power Delivery 3.0 MAC.

The embedded 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0+ gives a full Power Delivery firmware stack, offering a turn-key solution for USB-C power-only applications, needing minimum user development. Pin straps support configuration providing select source functionality and PD power profiles. Optionally, a second PD port is supported via SPI connection to an external company UPD350 USB-C transceiver.

The controllers are available in commercial (0C to +70C) and industrial/automotive grade 3 (-40C to +85C) temperature ranges.
