RS Components offers a new range of enclosed SMPS from Recom that provide an integrated mains filter ideal for powering single-board computers including Arduino, BBC Micro:bit or Raspberry Pi, including its touchscreen.

Aimed at electronics designers, the new RAC05-K/C14 series of isolated AC/DC converters provide a selection of five devices with 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V and 24VDC output voltages, respectively, allowing usage in an extensive selection of industrial applications.

Providing an 85VAC to 264VAC universal input voltage and energy efficiencies up to 86%, the DC output terminals provide safe extra-low voltage capability meaning they can be touched in safety. The units also protect against short circuits and overload and overvoltage.

The series’ patented design indicates a complete 5W supply can fit into the standard C14 mains filter housing and at a lower cost than many power supplies or mains filters alone. Furthermore, the supply comes with the standard IEC ‘kettle connector’ input mounting hole meaning that installation time is only a few seconds.

The metal case also gives secure fixing and provides high thermal dissipation capability, which enables a broad operating temperature range, from –40C to +60C, without derating.

The series is CE marked and EN/IEC/UL certified.
