Flyback power transformer gives enhanced DC-DC power conversion efficiency

Bourns has added to the company's flyback power transformer line. Created to support IEEE 802.3 af-compliant, integrated PoE PD and PWM controller applications, model SM13117EL gives DC-DC power conversion in isolated mode.

The device flyback transformer features 13W of output power, 36-72VDC/250kHz input, 12VDC/1.08A output and 1.5kVrms withstanding voltage. This low profile, small form factor PoE flyback transformer also provides an extended -40C to +125C operating temperature range, low leakage inductance and outstanding EMI performance. Ensuring safe operation, the electrical insulation of the transformer complies with the UL 1446 Class B (130C) Insulation System. The transformer bobbin provides the UL 94 V-0 flammability rating.

The features of the company's latest flyback power transformer make it an attractive power conversion solution for a wide range of PoE-powered devices incorporating VoIP phones, WLAN access points and network cameras as well as with integrated PoE PD interface and PWM controllers provided by several leading IC manufacturers.
