New voltage drive photorelay reduces equipment size and power consumption

Toshiba Electronics Europe offers a new voltage-driven photorelay with a tiny S-VSON4T package and decreased input power dissipation.

The new product, TLP3407SR, offers a maximum LED current of only 1mA at the input, which signifies a decrease to approximately 33% of that of its predecessor, the TLP3407SRH. This enables the device to give a maximum input power dissipation of 3.3mW. For employment with higher voltages of 5V or more, the new product can be powered by combining an external resistor in series, enabling designers to achieve a maximum trigger LED current of 0.2mA. This increases the range of permissible input voltages, simplifying the job of circuit design.

With the decreased input power dissipation, the new voltage drive photorelay is ideal for lessening the power consumption of an extensive variety of equipment incorporating probe cards, ATE, semiconductor testers, and other similar applications.

The device is housed in a tiny S-VSON4T package that offers a mounting area/footprint of just 2.9mm2 - a reduction of around 27% in comparison to the existing VSONR4 package. As a result, this new product can help decrease the size of end products or increase the amount of photorelays that can be installed in a fixed space.
