Single-cell buck battery charger provides fast charging

Texas Instruments bq25619 Single-Cell Buck Battery Charger comprises a highly integrated 1.5A switch-mode battery charge management and system Power Path management product for single-cell Li-Ion and Li-polymer battery. It provides fast charging with high input voltage support for an extensive variety of applications including wearables and earphone charging cases. The device's low impedance power path optimises switch-mode operation efficiency, decreases battery charging time and increases battery run time throughout the discharging phase. The device's low termination current, input voltage and current regulation, and battery remote sensing produce maximum charging power to the battery.

The solution is highly integrated with input reverse-blocking FET (RBFET, Q1), high-side switching FET (HSFET, Q2), low-side switching FET (LSFET, Q3), and battery FET (BATFET, Q4) among system and battery. It additionally combines the bootstrap diode for the high-side gate drive for simplified system design. The I2C serial interface with charging and system settings makes the device a very flexible solution.
