Powerful computer explores how AI can be used in a variety of applications

Mouser now stocks the new BeagleBone AI. The device, created by the BeagleBoard.org Foundation, is a powerful open hardware computer that enables easy exploration on how AI can be applied in a mixture of applications, such as automation in commercial, industrial, and home designs.

The device is constructed on a Texas Instruments Sitara AM5729 processor with dual-core Arm Cortex-A15 subsystem and comprises two TI C66x DSPs and four EVE cores with TIDL support. Strengthening the board’s graphics and display abilities is an Image and Video Accelerator – High Definition subsystem with support for 4K at 15fps, 2D graphics accelerator, and a dual-core 3D GPU.


The device comprises 1GByte of RAM and 16GBytes of onboard eMMC flash, two dual-core PRU, and a pre-installed Debian Linux distribution. The board provides Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity options, as well as mechanical and header compatibility with the open-source BeagleBone Black. The board also incorporates connectors for micro-HDMI, USB Type-C for power and SuperSpeed dual-role controller, and USB 2.0 host.
