New Yorker Electronics now offers a new Ultra-Low-Profile Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor from Cornell Dubilier Electronics that is created for bulk capacitance and the lowest board profiles.

Circuit designers are now able to use a single component, which saves space, weight and cost while increasing dependability. Energy density of over 0.4J/cc allows the usage of a single component instead of an entire array of SMT capacitors. This increases circuit reliability while delivering high capacitance on the board.

Due to its light weight, the device is excellent for use in portable devices and is ideal for a broad range of applications where height profile, board space, weight and reliability are critical design factors. The device is provided in package heights of 2.2mm and 3.2mm. Capacitance values range from 500µF to 24,000µF. Working voltages range from 4WVDC to 63WVDC with an operating life of 3,000 hours @ 85C. Unlike solid tantalum capacitors, these capacitors do not need voltage derating.

Housed in a very durable nickel-silver case, the device is rated at 10g for vibration withstand. As thin as 2.2mm, the capacitors are simple to design-in. With flat ribbon-lead style terminations, it is even reasonable to mount the device off-board offering further design flexibility to maximise available space.
