Texas Instruments TPS61022 8A Boost Converters is a power supply solution for IoT and portable equipment devices powered by multiple batteries and supercapacitors. The device has a minimum 6.5A valley switch current limit over the entire temperature range and a comprehensive input voltage range of 0.5V to 5.5V. The device supports supercapacitor backup power applications which can deeply discharge the supercapacitor. The converters operate at 1MHz switching frequency when the input voltage is over 1.5V.

The device has a switching frequency that reduces gradually to 0.6MHz when the input voltage is under 1.5V down to 1V. The device's MODE pin sets operating either in power-save mode or forced PWM mode in light load condition. The device only uses a 26µA quiescent current from VOUT in light load condition. The device disconnects from the input power throughout shutdown. The device gives 5.7V output overvoltage protection, output short-circuits protection and thermal shutdown protection.

Typical applications include USB ports, SuperCap backups, and GPRS power supplies.
