Miniature gas discharge tubes provide high levels of protection against fast-rising transients

Stocked by Mouser, Littelfuse CG4 miniature gas discharge tubes (GDTs) provide high levels of protection against fast-rising transients caused by lightning disturbances. The device provides a 3kA 8/20µs surge rating and comes in a two-terminal surface mount package (6.2mm width x 6.2mm height x 4.2mm length). These GDTs feature an 800V to 3000V voltage range designed for surge protection and high isolation applications. They ideally serve applications in which bias voltage or signal levels of several hundred volts are normally present. Designers can use these gas discharge tubes along with the company’s metal oxide varistors for superior protection performance.
