Offered by Lane Electronics, the market-leading Souriau 8D/MIL-DTL-38999 Series III ELIO range of fibre optic connectors by Eaton have many applications for high-speed data communications in defence and commercial airborne systems and can be delivered from stock. Supplied in a wide range of shell materials and finishes, some suited for harsh environments, the connectors are also ideal for rail and shipborne equipment and can be supplied to customer requirements.

The connectors are housed in the circular 8D Series/MIL-DTL-38999 derived connector platforms. They are suitable for use in high-speed data networks and harsh environments. The fibre optic solution can handle data speeds from Mbit/s up to several Gbit/s. The 1-24 contacts only need simple installation and termination of contracts, with no special tooling required. They are offered in versatile shell materials, including aluminium, composite, stainless steel and bronze. Different plating finishes, including RoHS Compliant Zinc Nickel and Zinc Cobalt, are available.

FC Lane Electronics has a termination service available, assembled and tested in the UK. The company's fibre optic facility has the latest fibre assembly and test equipment, including automatic fibre optic cable preparation systems and high-speed multi-contact polishing machines. Customers can specify pigtail ends or patch cord assemblies from a range of simplex or duplex cables terminated with ELIO to ELIO, ELIO to SC, LC, FC or ST – or any combination – assembled with 8D Series/MIL-DTL-38999 style connectors, backshells and heat shrink boots.
