Innovative junction box for LED lighting with weatherproof connectors

07-11-2022 | Hylec-APL | Industrial

Hylec-APL’s patented Debox electrical junction boxes have many clever design features that save electrical contractors time and effort in each wiring project, internal and external. The enclosure is a versatile and robust IP66/IP67-rated surface-mounted junction box with ten cable entries. All have soft membrane covers, providing a quick puncture-entry self-sealing system rated to IP66. The eight side-entry points also offer a M20 size threaded entry for cable glands, with no need for an internal locknut, supplying a higher protection rating of IP67. Particularly developed for interior or exterior use on projects including lighting, outbuildings and anywhere exposed to water or dust ingress in industrial environments, it also has four PCB fixing posts in the base to take a PCB mounting plate. Maximum voltage is 400V, 32A. It is manufactured from black, RAL9003 flame-retardant, impact-resistant polypropylene and is rated for usage in temperatures from -30C to +100C.

The comprehensive range also incorporates the miniature Debox SM40, which fits easily and neatly into the 40mm aperture needed for most LED lights, and Debox SL2, the smallest five-pole electrical junction box on the market. The company invented the range specially to save electrical professionals’ time with all including terminal blocks, and some models featuring a screwless connection option for faster installation. The internal range provides screwless cable clamps, click closure and locking clip, plus spare, so the box can be re-opened if required.

Also, the weatherproof connector range has models rated up to IP68 and IP69K, with impact resistance ratings of IK08 to IK10. This proven and very comprehensive range offers an impressive pedigree, having been employed on major commercial installations, including bridges and flood barrier systems, but is equally ideal for domestic projects.
