Wi-Fi 7 high-power FEM for IoT applications

Mouser now stocks the QPF4659, a 6GHz Wi-Fi 7 high-power FEM from Qorvo. The FEM is created for Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) systems needing a compact form factor with integrated matching for smart homes, customer premises equipment, wireless router and IoT applications.

The FEM offers compatibility with Matter, a new connectivity standard for IoT devices. Matter is a universal software layer, a foundation for connected things and their applications, constructed upon and compatible with various protocols. Using standard IP as the communication protocol, Matter acts as the universal IoT standard compatible with the multiple protocols deployed in homes today.

The FEM provides constant slope voltage logarithmic power detection for application feedback and integrated die-level filtering for improved harmonics, as well as 2.4GHz rejection for DBDC operation. The device also includes a 6GHz PA, a single pole two-throw switch (SP2T), and a by-passable LNA in a single device. It is suited to wireless access points, wireless routers, set-top boxes and customer premise equipment. The performance of this device is focused on optimising the integrated power amplifier for a 5V supply voltage. This design decreases power consumption while maintaining the highest linear output power and leading-edge throughput across a wide bandwidth (5.9GHz to 7.1GHz).

The QPF4659EVB evaluation board supports the FEM, also available from Mouser. The evaluation board provides a pre-mounted QPF4659 module in a compact 3mm2 laminate package and the required support circuitry. The evaluation board provides an example application circuit, enabling rapid prototyping when incorporated into existing designs.
