New gas chromatographs for online natural gas analysis

19-08-2022 | Sensirion | Test & Measurement

The new gas analyser DynamiQ-X NG2210, from Qmicro by Sensirion, offers fast and accurate online monitoring of natural gas and provides calorific values for composition control and custody transfer purposes. Meanwhile, the DynamiQ-X NG2220 performs the same analysis for natural gas containing hydrogen at concentrations as high as 20% utilising only one carrier gas. The analysers can be incorporated into many locations of the natural gas infrastructure, including natural gas city gate stations, natural gas conditioning stations, blending stations, offshore systems and power-to-gas systems.

The instruments are straightforward to transport, with a volume of only 10L and weighing less than 15kg. They can be deployed anywhere for analyses if local power and gas bottles are available.

The instruments can accommodate two or three gas chromatograph (GC) units working in parallel, each performing a different GC analysis under individually optimised conditions. Each unit includes a state-of-the-art microchip-based injector and a thermal conductivity detector combined with a microbore GC column and is set with optimal chromatography conditions. This configuration facilitates an accurate instrument and a very short analysis time of less than a minute.

They are designed as a stand-alone working instrument with an integrated processor on a future-proof platform to carry out continuous monitoring. The instrument possesses an easily exchangeable GC cartridge that permits fast local maintenance. Also, a PC can be connected to the analyser at any location through a network connection.
