Jan 20 2012 - Switches, Relays & Onboard [More Switches, Relays & Onboard Articles]Available now from Mouser stock, FTDI’s DB9 USB to digital modules provide a simple and fast method of migrating existing DB9 based connector UART interfaces to USB 2.0.
In some cases the modules can reduce system costs by removing an RS232 level shifter from a design. The modules feature a USB 2.0 mini-B connector within a module which fits a standard 9-pin DB9 connector footprint. They are seen as ideal for legacy applications which feature UART DB9 based connectors, providing a method of extending the life-cycle of these products by converting them to USB 2.0 connectivity, with minimal redesign.
