GPEG – First 3.5-inch TFT display featuring HVGA resolution
Nov 28 2011 - Subs & Systems [More Subs & Systems Articles]GPEG has launched its first 3.5-inch TFT display featuring HVGA (480 x 320) resolution. The compact TFT module will produce a colour palette of 262K colours over an exceptionally wide viewing angle of 170 degrees horizontally and vertically. The built in LED backlight is rated at 30k hours and produces an on screen brightness of 350 nit with a high contrast ratio of 800:1.
Interface options include LVDS and RGB; both these versions include a built-in LED driver further simplifying the integration of this module into a wide variety of applications. The display is also available with a Projective Capacitive Touch Screen (PCT) this allows designers to emulate the functionality of current consumer products such as tablet PC’s and mobile phones into their latest products. Available in single or multi-touch versions the touch screen allows for ‘gesturing’ functions such as ‘pinching’ – zoom out, ‘stretching’ – zoom in and ‘swipe’ – left, right, up and down.
The PCT has a high impact resistance (3H) and will work with a gloved hand. Light transmission is typically 88% with a positional accuracy of better than 1%. The displays can be further enhanced by using GPEG’s Turnkey Solutions facility which offers options on integrating standard or custom display modules with a PCB, keypads, plastics and full test facilities, says the company.
