Highest current carrying TVS diode series in a compact DFN package

Bourns, Inc has released its highest current carrying bidirectional Power PTVS Diode series that is available in a compact surface mount DFN package. The Model PTVS20-015C-H can handle 20kA, 8/20µs current surge at a low voltage of 15V. These features deliver effective ESD protection in high-power DC line protection applications.

The diode meets IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4 ESD protection conditions. It also provides low clamping voltage at peak pulse current and helps in meeting IEC 61000-4-5 8/20μs current surge conditions for lightning protection.

To support large currents such as 60kA in next-generation applications, designers generally have had to connect multiple devices with low current handling capability in parallel. With a single device capable of handling 20kA, fewer devices may now be connected in parallel to deliver the same desired protection level. This decreases the total BOM count and can help save valuable space on the PCB.

The diode series is available now and is RoHS-compliant and halogen-free.
