Monitoring solution records and evaluates energy, production and environmental data

The “innogy bit.B” process and energy monitoring system, which records, monitors and evaluates the energy, production and environmental data of industrial machinery, is based on the Lemonbeat IoT technology. As a cost-effective retrofit solution, “innogy bit.B” is ideal for small and medium-sized operations to fit their existing industrial plants with customary sensors or counters during operation to ensure comprehensive monitoring. The system can record important energy and process data at the consumer level and identify savings potentials. For example, this enables a reduction in stand-by times, the prevention of load peaks and the optimum utilisation of the machine. The individual measured data, such as current consumption or temperature values, are sent to a gateway via Lemonbeat Radio, a patented radio technology in the sub-GHz range, which transmits the data online to the bit.B platform. On the platform, the current situation can be graphically displayed and monitored on a customisable dashboard and analysis area. Due to its significantly higher ranges than WLAN, for example, as well as the better data rates compared to conventional 868MHz radio, thanks to a patented frequency hopping method, Lemonbeat Radio is ideal for use in industrial environments. This means that additional repeaters to transmit the data within larger halls are generally no longer required. “We made the decision to use the Lemonbeat technology right from the very start, not just because it provides a superior radio technology, but also because Lemonbeat offers more than just connectivity”, comments Jan Rüsel, administration and aftersales at innogy bit.B and adds: “In future scenarios, Lemonbeat technology could be used to equip machines with independent ‘intelligence’ in order to perform optimisations autonomously in direct communication with one other.” Nuremberg Sensor + Test Trade Fair, Hall 2, Booth 2-404, 30 May-1 June
