Latest from Murata Power Solutions is the NXJ1 series of single-output, high-reliability, high-isolation, 1W surface-mount DC-DC converters designed for medical products, and other applications in industrial, transport and telecoms markets. Measuring only 13.72mm x 10.46mm x 4.36mm, the compact low-profile series features six models comprising nominal input voltage options of 3.3V, 5V or 12VDC and single outputs of 3.3V, 5V, 12V or 15VDC. The NXJ1 series is manufactured using an automated process that also fabricates an integrated transformer into the substrate. These techniques contribute to increasing product reliability and repeatability of performance in a halogen free, inspectable land grid array (iLGA) package. The industry standard footprint is compatible with previous models making it ideal for replacement in existing applications as well as for new space-constrained low profile designs. The converter features short circuit protection and agency recognition is pending to the UL60950 standard for reinforced insulation and 4.2kV 'High Pot' test. With its approvals to the rigorous medical safety standards ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1, with 2 MOOP & 1 MOPP recognition pending, the surface mount isolated NXJ1 is particularly well suited to medical applications. Product manager, Ann-Marie Bayliss, Murata, said: With UL60950 for reinforced insulation and ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1, 2 MOOPs pending, the NXJ1 offers enhanced features previously not available in a miniature low profile surface mount product.” The device can operate across the full industrial temperature range from -40C to +85C. It has a MSL rating 2, and is compatible with a peak reflow solder temperature of 245C as per J-STD-020 and J-STD-075, says the company.
