Easy-to-apply Bluetooth Smart module targets high-performance applications

The Silicon Labs Blue Gecko BGM111, now available from Farnell element14 stock, is a Bluetooth Smart module aimed at applications where good RF performance, low power consumption and easy application development are key requirements. The TX power of the BGM111 is +8dBm, meaning it has the best RF performance in its class and can provide long-range, robust Bluetooth Smart connectivity. All the elements necessary for a Bluetooth Smart application are integrated into the BGM111 - Bluetooth radio, software stack and GATT-based profiles. It can also host end user applications, which means no external microcontroller is required in devices that are constrained by size, price or power. Highly flexible hardware interfaces also enable the BGM111 Bluetooth Smart module to connect to different peripherals or sensors. Despite the BGM111 being targeted at applications requiring high RF performance, it still has ultra-low power consumption and can be operated using a standard 3V coin cell battery, says the company.
