Electromaker.io has announced a project-based competition for hobbyists with 100 Microchip AVR-IoT WG Development boards as prizes. Entrants will also win the opportunity to try for a place at the 2019 Microchip Masters conference in Berlin. The AVR-IoT WG development board, designed for IoT projects, connects to the Google Cloud in 30 seconds and offers a secure, hardware-based CryptoAuthentication private key, making it simpler than ever to swiftly and securely upload data. The board features built-in light and temperature sensors and is pre-configured to transfer data from these to the cloud. It additionally has a mikroBUS connector, which produces easy access to over 500 sensors and actuators. The board can manage smart home jobs from automation to remote environmental controls to lighting. It can further be used for smart health and traffic management applications. To enter the competition, entrants must have a free account registered at electromaker.io and create their project using the Microchip AVR-IoT WG development board. A further two runners-up will win a Curiosity PIC32MZEF Development Board, SNAP Debugger, Arduino Uno WiFi, and an assortment of connectors and shields. The deadline for board applications is 1st January 2019 and projects must be uploaded by 31st March 2019. The winners will be announced on 8th April 2019.
