Ultra-low-dropout regulators for MCUs and analog sensors

Texas Instruments' TPS7A10 ultra-low-dropout regulators feature an input range of 0.75V to 3.3V and fixed output voltage options between 0.6V to 3V, with high 1.5% accuracy over line, load, and temperature. The ultra-small 0.74mm x 1.09mm devices are suitable for space-constrained IoT devices, smart watches, and medical devices, wireless headphones, fitness trackers, and smartphones and tablets. The regulators provide excellent performance to support the lower core voltages of analog sensors and microcontrollers. The devices’ main power path (VIN) can be connected to a power supply as low as 70mV above than the output voltage, and an added VBIAS rail facilitates support for very low input voltages. Both rails use low quiescent currents of just 1.6µA and 6µA, respectively, providing an efficient solution for low-power performance. The LDOs also possess a high power supply rejection ratio of 60dB at 1KHz. The regulators are supported by the TPS7A10EVM-004 evaluation module. Created to evaluate the operation and performance of the LDO, the evaluation module provides a reference design for engineering applications demanding current of up to 300mA.
