The first-ever AEC-Q101 qualified, phototransistor optocoupler provided by Vishay is now offered by TTI Europe. This newly-launched device, the VOMA617A, combines a high CTR of 50% to 600% with low 5mA forward current. Provided in a compact SOP-4 package, the new device gives the major advantage of a 30% saving on PCB real-estate when compared to a DIP-4 package. The series offers a GaAlAs infrared emitting diode, which is optically coupled to a silicon planar phototransistor detector. The coupling devices are intended for signal transmission between two electrically separated circuits, especially in automotive applications, and give low coupling capacitance. Electrical specifications of the new optocoupler include a collector-emitter voltage of up to 80V and a 3750VRMS isolation voltage rating. The Creepage and clearance distance of the device is =5mm. Ideal applications for the optocoupler are in system control in automotive applications, including EVs and hybrid electric vehicles; electric bicycles and electric motorbikes; signal transmission with galvanic and noise isolation; battery management systems and on-board chargers; switch-mode power supplies; 48V board net applications; as well as industrial applications with high-reliability requirements.
