Switch current boost converter offers a power-supply solution for alkaline and rechargeable batteries

27-02-2018 | Texas Instruments | Power

The Texas Instruments TPS61322xx is a synchronous boost converter with only 6.5µA quiescent current. The device offers a power-supply solution for products powered by NiMH rechargeable battery, alkaline battery, or one-cell Li-ion battery. The boost converter is based on a hysteretic control topology using synchronous rectification to achieve maximum efficiency at minimum quiescent current. The device also enables the use of small external inductor and capacitors. Higher than 90% efficiency is reached at 10mA load from 1.5V input to 2.2V output conversion. The device can also maintain high output current applications with an external Schottky diode. The device gives higher than 500mA output current capability at 3V input voltage to 5V output voltage conversion with an external Schottky diode in parallel with the internal rectifier FET. The device is available in a 2.9mm × 1.3mm three-pin SOT package or a 2.9mm × 1.6mm five-pin SOT package.
