Microcontroller improves real-time CAN response

The PIC18 K83 family, from Microchip, continues a longstanding tradition of innovation in 8-bit MCUs by combining an extensive array of CIPs with the PIC18 CAN product line. These cost-optimised MCUs contain 15 time-saving CIPs in 28-pins with up to 64 KB of flash memory. These products are perfect CAN applications in the industrial and automotive markets, medical, such as ultrasound machines, motorised surgical tables, asset tracking, automated conveyors and automotive accessories. System creators can benefit considerably by saving time, as it is significantly simpler to configure a hardware-based peripheral, rather than writing and validating a complete software routine to perform a task. The devices comprise a full complement of CIP including CRC with memory scan for ensuring the integrity of non-volatile memory; DMA, enabling data transfers between memory and peripherals without CPU involvement; WWDT for triggering system resets; 12-bit ADC2 for automating analog signal analysis for real-time system response; and CWG for enabling high-efficiency synchronous switching for motor control.
