The Texas Instruments TPS62097-Q1 synchronous step-down converter is a device optimised for high efficiency and noise-critical applications. The device's focus on high-efficiency conversion over a broad output current range. At medium to heavy loads, the converter functions in PWM mode and enters Power Save Mode operation automatically at light load. The switching frequency can be selected in the range of 1.5MHz to 2.5MHz by an external resistor. iDCS-Control is capable of being operated in a forced PWM mode for low noise operation with a continuous switching frequency. To meet the requirements of system power rails, the internal compensation circuit enables a large selection of external output capacitor values of more than 150µF. To control the inrush current through the startup, the device gives a programmable soft startup by an external capacitor connected to the SS/TR pin. The SS/TR pin is used in voltage tracking configurations as well. The device combines short circuit protection, power good and thermal shutdown features.
