Mouser now offers the GSP65RxxHB-EVB insulated metal substrate (IMS)-based evaluation platform from GaN Systems. The platform shows an economical way to improve heat transfer, improve power density, and decrease system cost of power systems in consumer, automotive, industrial, and server or data centre applications. The evaluation platform consists of the GSP65MB-EVB motherboard and two IMS evaluation modules that both include a high-power, bottom-side-cooled GaN Systems GS66516B enhancement mode high electron mobility transistor (E-HEMT). The 650V IMS evaluation modules are configured as a half bridge and are available in 13 milliohms, 2-4kW and 25milliohm, 4-7kW variants. Collectively, the motherboard and IMS evaluation modules enable 10 different configurations, with two further configurations when using a second motherboard. Designers can also use the modules independently as a high-power GaN IPM with their boards for in-system prototyping. The modules give very low inductance and feature an optimised driver board that minimises both the power and gate driver loops. Typical uses include onboard chargers, industrial photovoltaic inverters and motor drives, DC/DC converters and three-phase inverters for electric and hybrid vehicles, switch mode power supplies for server/data centres and residential energy storage systems.
