PowerBurst MCI Integration Kits are now available from ultracapacitor and
capacitor specialist, Tecate. Offered to simplify the packaging and
integration of Maxwell Technologies' MC Power Series Boostcap
ultracapacitors, the kits allow design engineers to easily, and efficiently
create test modules for fast proof of concept.
The kits utilise Tecate's patented interlocking end cap system, which
enables modules to be quickly assembled using the innovative 'snap-together'
feature incorporated into the design. The modular technology lets engineers
effortlessly build application-specific modules in varied sizes and voltage
configurations. Kits are provided with all the hardware and instructions
required to build 2-, 4-, or 6-cell modules, and include printed circuit
boards (PCBs) with voltage management circuitry, buss bars, washers, and
retaining nuts.
Ideal for fast prototyping of modules for use in industrial electronics,
short-term UPS, power stability, cold engine starting and renewable energy
applications, the assembled modules provide a 'green' source of energy that
can be delivered very quickly.
PowerBurst MCI Integration kits are compatible with the full MC Series of
round, terminal type ultracapacitors that consists of cells with
capacitances ranging from 650 to 3,000F. The kits' voltage management
circuitry monitors each cell, and protects each cell from entering an
over-voltage condition. Should a cell experience an over-voltage condition,
an LED will illuminate and the active circuit will discharge that cell. The
LED will extinguish once the cell returns to nominal operation voltage
limits. Optional battery posts, interconnect / power cables and metal side
panels are available, says the company.
