Mouser now stocks the RZ/V2L AI microprocessors from Renesas Electronics. Ideal for engineers looking for a cost-efficient AI solution, the devices provide entry-level AI while offering several robust features found with its predecessor, the RZ/V2M, comprising best-in-class power efficiency and high-precision AI acceleration.

These microprocessors provide Renesas’ exclusive DRP-AI, which allows the microprocessor to support varied image processing uses, including colour correction and noise reduction of input/output images. This attribute allows designers to utilise an inexpensive camera module without needing an external image signal processor to interpret sensor data – a key to integrating AI into a various cost-power-constrained IoT devices. Driving the microprocessors is a 1.2GHz dual-core Arm Cortex-A55 CPU with an Arm Mali-G31 3D graphics engine.

The microprocessors are provided in 15mm × 15mm or 21mm × 21mm BGA packages, which are pin-compatible with the Renesas RZ/G2L to permit easy upgrading and software reusability with modification of the system configuration. Also offered is the RZ/V2L SMARC PMIC Kit for evaluation.

The microprocessors provide users with AI capabilities over various consumer and industrial IoT applications, including surveillance cameras with recognition functions, home appliances, smart robot cleaning devices, smart doorbells, and retail POS terminals.
