New DDR5 module family for compute intensive applications

SMART Modular Technologies has launched its DDR5 module family of products, supporting the industry’s transition to higher-performing, more efficient memory technology. With the huge growth in data creation, DDR5 is intended to offer increased memory bandwidth and performance to improve process data across multiple application segments, including HPC, AI and edge computing.

DDR5 technology gives twice the performance of DDR4 with a 4.8Gbps to 6.4Gbps data rate and improved power efficiency over DDR4 by employing an on-DIMM 12V voltage regulator (PMIC) and 1.1 I/O voltage. Another important factor adding to the higher performance of DDR5 is its dual-channel DIMM topology for higher channel efficiency that makes it suited for developing server, cloud computing, and enterprise networking applications.
