ProTek Devices now offers an ultra-low capacitance steering diode/TVS array for circuit protection against electrostatic discharge and surge transient voltages in Gigabit Ethernet, USB, HDMI, and other computing interfaces. The new component offers protection for six rail-to-rail data lines, making it ideal for applications with a minimum of board space.

The PLR0506LC is particular exceptional to guard high-speed data port like USB Type-C but is also suitable for Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire, HDMI 1.4 and HDMI 2.0, SATA, and other PCIe interfaces. It is compatible with IEC standards 61000-4-2 (ESD): air ±15kV, contact ±8kV; with 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A - 5/50ns; and with 61000-4-5 (lightning): 4A - 8/20 microseconds.

The typical capacitance I/O to ground is 0.4pF and I/O to I/O is 0.25pF at 0Vdcc, 1MHz. The device delivers ESD protection up to 25kV and offers a low clamping voltage of 22V at 4A. Its ultra-low capacitance is 0.25pF typical, I/O to I/O. The device is also RoHS and REACH compliant.

The device is supplied in a moulded JEDEC DFN-8 package with a weight of approximately 7mg. Other mechanical and packaging attributes include lead-free pure-tin annealed plating and a solder reflow temperature (pure-tin - Sn, 100) of 260C to 270C. Operating and storage temperatures are -55C to 150C. The flammability rating is UL 94V-0.
